Backstreet Atlas LA PREMIERE!!!!

BackstreetAtlas_LA_web

Coming out to the wild west, after a trek across the wild east, using only their shred sleds, have compiled their footage into a documentary capturing the raw lifestyle of true skateboard culture.  They felt every pebble, and even ate shit dude to some bigger rocks, shredding a trail of over 200 mile.  Truly an inspiration. Do what you love, chase after those dreams, manifest with reckless abandon, and if you need help learning how to do that, than you need, i reiterate, YOU NEED, to come see this video.

Hayley Starr

Wandering around my new neighborhood of Venice, Ca, I sauntered by a boutique and tried to open the door, it was locked, I saw a doorbell, but continued on as I assumed fate was whisking me away towards a new situation.  Right as I jollily strolled along, a lovely lady skipped to the locked door, opening it and peering out she said “would you like to come in?” and fate brought me back.  It was a minimalist boutique with art and cloths designed in house on the desk behind the modest curtain in the back.  The space is open and inviting, lots of white walls, beautiful art and unique clothing.  Hayley herself showed me around and we stood around discussing mutual interests, check out the website for this collective at : http://hayleystarr.myshopify.com/

and now for some of the art:

Belligerator- Robot Prostitute

I visited the future and all I got was this lousy Robot Prostitute.  The title immediately strikes me as Dickian ( in the theme of Phillip K. Dick) but that could be brain taking this where it wants to go.  It seems Belligerator has traveled into the future and brought back the whole album “Next Year’s Music” just for us.  Check it out, available on their bandcamp site!

What can you realize?

Daniel Barron

Embracing chaos, simple complexity, does that even make sense? I don’t really care, they are the best words I can find to describe the feelings I get from seeing Daniels art. Through the use of a diverse range of mediums, Daniel captures the feeling of the abyss, the tunnel of the unknown. The infinite nothingness of the universe caught in a maelstrom of expression and captured in these creations, a similar sense of the static from a neglected television. I have driven hours just listening to the static of the dead radio bands, the music of cosmic radiation and interference, now I can just sit back a zone out into the amazing art of Daniel Barron .  I recommend your spend 5 minutes and do the same, better yet check out his art show in San Francisco on May 13th at Ligne Roset.

Lost was I among he chaos of culture, the sea of creativity that exists here is Los Angeles.  Stranded in the South Bay of LA, full of bros and fake boobies, I was torn about how to find any sort of raw music scene, people doing what they love despite the pressures of the mainstream doing its best to drown out the craziest of crazies.  One night, out of the light of a hot oven, Lo-Pie shown its brilliant shine of awesomeness.

Lo-Pie is a lantern that helps guide weary music lovers to the heart of the scene.  If you are at a loss for what to do tonight, it would be wise to check out the Lo-Pie events page, a map to the counter cultural greatness in this abyss of conformity and confusion.  Why in the world is the culture of LA so popular? I have no clue, but Lo-Pie is what everyone should be looking at!  With comprehensive reviews section, shows section, and photos to go with the show recaps, learn how to be cool over at Lo-Pie.  See you at the next show!

Thank you Lo-Pie for showing me the light!
